6th November 2017 - We are recruiting!

Do you have what it takes to be a Bird Aware ranger?

We are currently recruiting for two rangers to join the growing Bird Aware Solent team. If you like the great outdoors even at its worst, enjoy talking to people, and are knowledgeable about birdlife then you could have what it takes to be a Bird Aware ranger.

Working on the Solent coast during the winter months can be physically demanding as we are subject to wind, rain, and cold temperatures. To battle the elements on a daily basis you need to be passionate about our local wildlife and have a strong desire to share this passion with other people. During the summer months the focus of our work is on developing projects such as our schools programme, events programme, volunteer recruitment, and liaising with land managers to assist with site improvements.

Bird Aware rangers engage with visitors and communities along our coast and get to work closely with lots of organisations like the RSPB, the Wildlife Trust, the New Forest National Park Authority and Chichester Harbour Conservancy. We benefit from shared knowledge across many organisations and have a strong team work ethos.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a new organisation and help shape our future. If you think you have what it takes to inspire people to take action and help reduce bird disturbance, then we can't wait to hear from you.

We cover 250km of the Solent coastline so applicants must have a full driving license and their own vehicle.  The work base is flexible as we have access to a number of office locations across the Solent.

The posts are permanent and start in January 2018.

Closing date for applications is 19th November 2017.
