The new season greets new faces

For the start of the winter season, the Bird Aware team recruited three new Seasonal Rangers to patrol the coast so the vital messages helping to protect our feathered visitors have a greater chance in reaching the people out enjoying the coast.

David, Emily and Mark have joined Bird Aware for the winter period only and each of them have varied backgrounds.  Meet them here.

I have just moved back to Hampshire following the completion of an RSPB practical conservation internship in North Kent. I'm very excited to be joining the ranger team for the season and I'm looking forward to getting people just as enthused as I am about the amazing waders and wildfowl that we share our coastline with.

I grew up near the Solent and recently returned to Hampshire, the pull was too strong to stay away!

I love the great outdoors and enjoy visiting nature reserves.  They offer a wealth of wildlife surprises and I enjoy not knowing what could be in store.

I've recently moved up from Cornwall where I worked with the RSPB, giving talks onboard the Isles of Scilly ferries.  I studied marine biology and completed my thesis on Manx shearwaters in Cork, Ireland where I'm originally from. I'm really looking forward being out on the Solent coast helping the overwintering birds.

We are really pleased to welcome them aboard and excited about the season ahead.
