The Bird Aware Partnership

We are a Partnership consisting of 13 Solent councils, two National Parks Authorities and nature conservation groups, RSPB, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Trust, Chichester Harbour Conservancy and Natural England.

Our team consists of eight Rangers, a Brand and Communications Lead and a Partnership Manager and collectively we raise awareness of coastal birds that return to the Solent every winter.

Funded by new development in the region,  our team highlight internationally protected species to many users of the coast including those that have a commercial or leisure interest in the Solent.  We strive to make sure everyone can continue to see the birds every winter and promote how important it is that everyone plays their part in keeping our shores ecologically diverse.

We get involved with lots of different local matters from white tailed eagles to the English Coastal path and we also play an active part in Solent communities through events such as guided walks and citizen science projects that have helped people to connect with their local environment.  We often get invited to meetings and talks with residents, visitors, and businesses and we welcome you to get in touch if you think we can assist the environmental side of your business whilst raising the profile of local habitats.  If you have an idea on this, please contact me on spencer.dawson@havant.gov.uk

In September 2019 our Partnership grew to the Essex coast, helping to make more people Bird Aware.  Visit the Essex website here.

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the remaining short articles in this edition.
