March 2020 - A message from Bird Aware Solent

As Coronavirus (COVID-19) diagnoses continue to increase around the world, we wanted to let you know that Bird Aware Solent is absolutely committed to providing a safe environment for the people that we come into contact with, and our employees.

As a result we have taken the precaution to stop our Rangers from engaging with the general public along the coast during these uncertain times.  We feel this is the safest approach to help halt the spread of the virus.

Councillor Seán Woodward is Chairman of the Partnership for South Hampshire (PfSH), a body that oversees Bird Aware, adds, 'thank you for your continued trust in us. We'd like to assure you all that we are closely monitoring, and following, the latest information and advice issued by the UK Government with regards to the Coronavirus outbreak.'

If you are out visiting the coast, please follow government guidelines and keep your distance from other people and continue to give the birds lots of space.  Ducks, geese and wading birds, such as brent geese and black-tailed godwit, will soon be migrating to their breeding grounds so it's important that they feed and rest undisturbed.
