Summer 2020 Update

Back in February who would have predicted that the world would have been asked to stay at home and only leave the house if absolutely necessary?  For an organisation heavily involved in community events this posed a real challenge, but as it turned out the work and engagement showed no sign of letting up.

With the schools closed we created a suite of online resources to help a brave new legion of teachers carry out home schooling.  With videos, downloads and links to other resources, the page was a real hit and one of our most viewed pages throughout the summer term.

As lockdown eased and people were encouraged to venture back out to open spaces, parks and the coast this coincided with fledglings from our summer breeding birds journeying out from their nests.  High numbers of visitors to nature reserves were recorded putting human disturbance firmly back on the map.  To help raise the understanding of this we partnered with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, the Thames Basin Heaths Partnership and Bird Wise in Kent to compile a video to help the birds - watch here.

With the changing times and continuing workload, a robust case was made to employ Seasonal Rangers for this winter and so in September the team has been joined by Dave, Miranda and for the consecutive season, Mark.  Find out more about them here.
